Fun 1st official match of 2011, against Hoboken Cricket Club. A great team we always look foward to playing with/against.
I reached my all-time high of 25 runs from 24 bowls/pitches. 3 of which were boundaries. We were within 4 runs of winning, but with only 2 balls left in the inning; sadly didn’t make it. Nonetheless, great day out.
Was much warmer/sunnier than I had planned. Got quite a bit of sun, still quite warm now. All in all, what a great day of cricket should be

a double take at a death notice….a friends name. Richard T Welsh, friend, sportsman, Marine. Loved spending evenings at the bar talking to Dick. He was a noted Marine, he had spoken of my father (know a Marine, & you understand/connect with them). We had talked about something/nothing, didn’t matter; he was comfortable/connected to talk to.
Last I had seen him was 2 months(max) ago, had spent time talking about his car, a Buick. He had Mercedes, BMW, Porsche’s…but Buick was reliable/consistent. I had delivered a blow, when I told him that Buick (US) engines were produced in China & replaced in whole in the US.
I knew Dick from RCOP & PCC. I had seen him on courts & in the bar, but knew little of his other life. From what I knew he was broker….financial consultant. He always seemed happy…what more can we ask for???
Little I heard, cancer was the cause…my doctor told me…you shall die of old age or cancer. To pass quickly, I do believe is better…but for friends/family, it’s a shock/blow.
